Cupcakes mascarpone

While surfing on the web, I discovered this neat french website "Le monde de Loka", where Loka shares recipes in video. And in this recipe for Dexter cupcakes (I will have to try those for Halloween), her icing is a mix of mascarpone and iced sugar. Less fat than a butter one, and apparently it's quite thick. So I used that as a base to make my icing.

Basically I took about 50g of mascarpone and added ice sugar and vanilla until it tasted good.

Then I sprinkled cocoa powder and colorful thingies, and voila !!!

DBF (my official taster) said the icing was tastier than usual, like cream, and less sugary (all the better !)

My next challenge is to make my own sugar paste, and so I will try Loka's recipe...

Cupcake maker

I've been contemplating buying a cupcake maker for a while, and on Thursday Lidl had some for sale. It was quite popular as I had to go to 2 shops to find it, the first one was out of stock ! I have to say I had my doubts at first, but it works really well.

Here you can see it with the first cupcakes I made, using the basic recipe. For the chocolate icing I used Milka Philadelphia and the white ones are with a cream/sugar icing.

---------------------------------

Knitting 2 socks toe up at a time

We suddenly went from blistering hot summer to cold. And of course the heating isn't on yet (the joys of collectivity heating in flats), and I'm really cold, especially the feet. And in this case slippers won't do for me, I need knitted socks.

Usually my mom knits me some with her knitting machine, but I wanted to try and make my own on circular needles, starting from the toe with Judy's cast on, and 2 socks at a time.

Starting from the toe allows me to stop the sock whenever I feel like it, and the finish result of the toe is nicer (no visible sewing line). As for the 2 socks at once.... I tend to start a sock, and when I'm done, I'm too lazy to make the second one ! Not to mention that you have to count rounds religiously in order to have identical socks !

I took this picture with the work ongoing for my grandma, who never saw circular needles in her life, but enjoyed knitting socks on dpns once upon a time....

-------------------------

stuff made since last time

Lately I've knitted long projects, taking up to more than a month to complete. Then I got lazy posting, so here are the things now. There is a picture of the fuschia top you saw in "scarf" state. I made the mistake of using acrylic, so it's surprisingly warm, and as we had a very hot summer...

There is the camel coton/acrylic jumper I made. It's a pattern from the book "Knit to flatter", and I had problems with it. First, it's not long enough, so I had to knit and sew an extra band of the lace trim. And the shoulders are a bit weird, but never mind...

And there is the square green shawl I made "in the round" in circular needles. It is just ok as a lap cover, but it is small and awkward as a shawl. I don't wear shawls anyway, so it doesn't matter

---------------------------------------
