First picture of the winter fairy

It's been a few days since I started this one. Well, Sunday I think. As usually, I went for the head. But this time it took a lot longer. There are a lot of fractionals and colours. It's not a problem technically, but the chart is very detailed and it's hard to follow, so it takes more time than usual to stitch. But the resultat is nice in the end, isn't it?

Today we are leaving for our "24h in London" trip. The main goal is the "Renegades" concert (whoever heard of them rise your hand, that would be a first, they are new, well, they were called "Feeder" before, and I doubt anybody outside of the UK ever heard of them) tonight. Then a bit of shopping, I hope....

I also hope I won't be too cold or too hot, when it's freezing outside, and inside is overheated, how do you dress? Yes, that's what we are up against... ;) London is hardly the land of stitchers, so I will consider myself happy if I can grab CrossStitcher and WOCS...

------------------------------------

Rosie the adorable bunny

I seem to prepare for Easter already with my bunnies and chicks, but it will come sooner than we think ! I like to create individual amigurumis, they are fast to make, and so cute !

So here is Rosie, with her pink ribbons and collar. I used stranded cotton for the details, so her features are a bit finer than the first bunny.

I don't show my progress on the winter fairy yet, because it's just weird blobs of blue and purple and it doesn't mean anything ;)

---------------------------------

A feel of Spring - Easter Bunny finished !!!

First, let me introduce you to Egghead chick, my newest critter. I might make him some friends for Easter...

But I'm sure you would be more interested in the fact that I finally finished the Easter Bunny !!! Click here to see a big picture. It's finished, and yet... it's not really finished, as I didn't write any names at the top or anything. And of course, I want to turn it into an egg shape bag like in the magazine.

Yesterday was particular, because I finally received the 2 CrossStitch Collection magazines I ordered on December 3rd !!!! I know about the postal strikes, and the fact that the magazines visited Europe (especially Germany) before reaching me, so I was leaving them until beginning of February... But here they are ! And in them, there are the Autumn and the Winter fairies from Joan Elliott. I especiually love the winter fairy, so I will start it straight away (this is why the bunny is finished so quick !)

So the Winter fairy... I will use a fabric my friend Kim dyed for me a while ago, all in purple and blue, very like the one in the magazine. And it's 16 aida. I have most of the threads, I think that in the long list I only miss 4 colours max. And I have the beads. So I'm basically ready to go !!!

-----------------------

Bunny keyring

I made myself a little gift. I needed a keyring decoration, and I love bunnies, so... I made this mini purple bunny. The ring above gives you an idea of how tiny it really is. As I keep my keys in my pocket, I don't want something too big !

I finished the backstitching on the Easter Bunny, but there are still areas to be stitched, not to mention the beads...

----------------------------

Black chick in a shell -gurumi (or Calimero if you know him...)

A while ago, DBF's sister told me she would like a "Calimero amigurumi" (see the official Calimero site), and as her birthday is in a month or so, it was a perfect challenge !!! First, the egg shell... had to be in the shape of an egg. If I master balls and cylinders, eggs are not that easy ! Then there are the wings, the tail, the beak....

I'm still backstitching the bunny as well, but it's slow... ;)

----------------

Valentine Diablotins

Here are my two latest creations : a couple of little devils with big hearts. Don't they look chumy?

Annie, surprisingly, I like to do the backstitching, especially on Joan Elliott's designs, because it follows the colours, so it's easy to do. Now, if we had a Tatted Teddy with the backstitching going all over the place (so much I just made the stitches randomly in the end), that's another story ;)

I don't backstitch as I go, because I do my crosses by colour, and so I never have fully stitched zones until the end, and we can't make crosses after the backstitching, can we?

NathDMC, I probably don't spend much more time than you on stitching (I play Animal Crossing on DS too, and we know this can be time consuming), but I do the reverse than you : I have to sacrifice on reading blogs on the web ! Although I started to read again lately...

---------------------------

Easter Bunny progress

All the crosses are done, and I started the backstitching... Stitching has slowed down a little bit, because I share time with crochet, reading and DS, so...

--------------------------

First sandougurumi of the year : Flower Bunny

I was on full speed on the stitched bunny, and soon entering the wonderful world of backstitching when... I heard the call of crochet hooks.

Because I was brave enough to sort out my entire patterns colletion (stitching, sewing, tatting, crochet, etc...), and I decided to make a few crochet flowers. And then this bunny. With a flower.

It is a lot smaller than the picture seems to shiw, it's about 6cm tall. I hope to make more critters like that. It's weird how outside it's fully winter (even if we are not blocked by snow over here, we are lucky), and I already crafting Spring...

------------------------

Progress on the bunny

Apparently, last time I worked on this, it was last January. I had started it about 2 years before, and I wasn't very inspired as it went back to UFO land quite rapidly.

Doesn't this sound familiar? Yes, Mama Christmas was in the same state. And I have high hopes, because these days I really work a lot on it, for hours at a time !!!

------------------------

Mama Christmas is the first happy dance of the year !

First, thank you all for your warm wishes. This year New Year's eve and day were pretty calm, and I realised a stitcher's dream : stitching on New Year's eve when I wasn't cooking or eating !

Somehow I became possessed with the stitching bug, and I spent most of the last two days stitching : the back stitch, in green, black and gold, and the beads.

So yesterday evening, at last, Mama Christmas was done ! and she's the first to get a "2010" sig !

Now I decided to work on the Easter bunny a little bit, as I'm in the mood for working on abandoned difficult projects...

------------------------------------------------------
